The Collective

So we're told to settle
and that the early birds revel
that punk and heavy metal are the tools of the devil
you stopped listening to people in suits
when they blurred out all the lines between the fables and the truth

Its time for me now focusing on my perspective
to stand corrected by the smiles and speeches that are serving the protected while Cameron's chins are coming for our pensions
a fire breathing media will chase his expenses
with Targaryen intentions

and there's too many reasons to even mention
why we're even compelled to smash the music in the first place
and sweat it out on stage on a regular basis
the fish of the finance bubble
scuttering through the rubble
keeping ourselves out of trouble
there is an eclectic infusion between bliss and confusion
now its time for us to shatter the illusion.

Its about time we go start ourselves
a little collective
and together we will take back
some of that soul
that's been rejected

we stand collected in our music collective

So traverse your troubles rack up a phat line of doubles
let the bitter sweet beat get your feet in a muddle
the systems up the plan is to construct
rhymes to rhythms to bass lines
time to get our knees up
and its a shame that a 40 hour week makes life feel bleak
forget about the terror they seek
love this life as a common man
and feast from the palms of the bankers hands
spend our summers unemployed
smashing up the sun and breaking the beat into noise
we are the Lopez, this is our sound
fighting through the rhythm all the way into your town
billy singing about the cynical situation
leaving us thinking where the fist world funds are coming from
you give what you get in this life there's no regretting
you cast out the net that your soul is setting

Its about time we go start ourselves
a little collective
and together we will take back
some of that soul
that's been rejected
